Perhaps the most inspiring venue to experience is the Cathedral itself, where you can hear many classical concerts, lunchtime recitals and events throughout the year.

The St Cecilia Orchestra, The Cathedral Concert Society and The Ripon Choral Society all regularly host concerts in the Cathedral, bringing with them many well known soloists and a wealth of talent to share with locals and visitors alike.

Ripon’s renowned St Cecilia Orchestra is much more than just an orchestra. At its most spectacular it is an exceptionally fine and very large symphony orchestra, often working with top class international soloists and capable of giving high-quality performances of some of the most demanding large-scale works in the repertoire, such as Bartok Concerto for Orchestra, Elgar Symphony No 1, Holst Planets Suite, Janacek Sinfonietta, Rachmaninov Symphony No 2 and R. Strauss Ein Heldenleben
